Since 2018, he has served as Senior Parent Defense Counsel in Kent County, Delaware, representing indigent parents in Family Court proceedings involving dependency, abuse, and neglect, and has successfully advanced novel legal arguments resulting in the creation of new case law protecting parental rights.
A former Delaware Deputy Attorney General (1989–1991), Mr. Grandell served as counsel for numerous state agencies and has appeared in the Delaware Chancery Court in corporate matters. Named "Best Lawyer" for Business Law by Main Line Today in 2010, he also contributed to the "Delaware Parent Defense Attorney Standards" manual and has served as a paralegal instructor at the National Academy of Paralegal Studies.
