His background, training, and experience are as follows.

Background

Born in Colombo, Sri-Lanka. Attended grammar school in London, England, and subsequently relocated to Pasadena, California, where he attended high school. Attended and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1992 with a B.A. in Psychology.

Training

Graduated from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California with a Juris Doctorate degree in December of 1997. Became a member of the California Bar in 1998 and has been a member in good standing continuously since that time.

Experience

While in Law School, served as the Associate Editor for The Commentator. Also completed Southwestern University School of Law’s Summer Program in Buenos Aires, Argentina, involving a curriculum of Sales, Business and Finance Law.

Upon membership into the California Bar in 1998, accepted a position with a law firm in Los Angeles, specializing in the practice of Personal Injury and working on various Civil Trial matters.

Accepted a position with Spiegel & Utrera, P.A. in January, 2000, to be the Managing Attorney of the Firm’s Los Angeles office. During his tenure with Spiegel & Utrera, P.A., he has formed numerous business entities including Corporations, S-Corporations, Limited Liability Companies, Partnerships, and Non-Profit Organizations. Rahulan has also drafted various agreements pertaining to Business Law, including Shareholders, Agreements, Operating Agreements, Employment Contracts, Independent Contractor’s Agreements, Commercial Leases, and other miscellaneous transactional agreements and contracts.

May of 2004 became the founder of sole practice specializing in business law, international transactional law, wills, trusts, estate planning and probate. Served as General Counsel to numerous domestic and international companies.

Accepted a position with Spiegel & Utrera, P.C. in November, 2011, as the returning Managing Attorney of the Firm’s Los Angeles office. Will focus on all aspects of business law, international transaction law, wills, trusts, estate planning and probate, preparation and review of contracts, operating agreements, shareholders agreements, 501(c)(3) exemptions for non profits, leases, trusts and wills. Actively participates in Spiegel & Utrera, P.C.'s General Counsel Club.
