Background:

Melody was born in East Chicago, Indiana and graduated in 2000 from Lake Central High School. She then attended Purdue University in Hammond, Indiana where she graduated with honors and received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in English.

Experience:

Melody received her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2007 from Indiana University School of Law -Indianapolis, where she was Co-Chair of the Women's Caucus Organization and a one-on-one tutor for the Dean's Tutorial Society. In the Summer of 2005, Melody studied China's developing laws at Renmin University in Beijing, China.

While attending law school, Melody was a certified legal intern advocating on behalf of low income clients in qualifying for disability benefits. She also served as a law clerk handling the development of medical review panels in Indianapolis for Panel Chair.

Melody is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and American Bar Association.
